Thursday: Boat Captains
It was an early start today as I was picked up at 05.30 to drive down to Placencia. Together with a few colleagues I went down to see a programme we recently funded aimed at training female boat captains who work in the seaweed farming industry.
It was a great trip. Not only did we get to see them all get their official licenses but we also went out in the boats and witnessed their new captaining skills. It’s been a great project as fishing and seaweed farming is so male-dominated here. They were rightly all very proud of what they’ve achieved.
We were back home by late afternoon. Definitely beats a day in the office.
I’ve added a few extras, including one following on from yesterday’s theme.
