Hobbs's Run

Cambewarra

The Blue Mountains are separated from the coast by a plain some 56 kilometres wide. Indeed the highest parts of the area (where we live) are more than 112 kilometres from Sydney and its harbour.

The Southern Highlands, however, are parted from the shoreline by only 10 kilometres or less in places. While wider here, from atop this particular escarpment, one can easily gaze past the Shoalhaven River and the Nowra district to the Tasman Sea.

We are at Cambewarra tea rooms. See the first extra for details. The 145 kms refers to the north/south coastal extremity which can theoretically be seen from this spot. Even though the view extends much further than this pano suggests, I am doubtful that the quoted figure is entirely accurate. In any event, let's not quibble. It is still a pretty grand outlook.
