Neuropsychological assessment
Today was an important milestone in my brain metastasis journey: I had neuropsychological assessment in the hospital in order to find out have my brain recovered from the surgery so that I could go back to work.
It was very interesting assessment session and took couple of hours. Tests were versatile and the neurologist was very likeable. At one point I noticed my brain got quite tired, but it went by when the test type changed.
The result was that my cognitive skills are at a normal level! I had a hunch that result would be like that, but couldn't be sure.
I asked the neurologist if I could take a photo of her 3D artificial brain. She was happy to allow it - I was the first one who had asked that!
Neuropsychological assessment is the normatively informed application of performance-based assessments of various cognitive skills. Typically, neuropsychological assessment is performed with a battery approach, which involves tests of a variety of cognitive ability areas, with more than one test per ability area. These ability areas include skills such as memory, attention, processing speed, reasoning, judgment, and problem-solving, spatial, and language functions.
My sick leave ends in the end of May and then I continue my work.
