Up Before the Sun

Sleep is short-lived
elusive
fragmented
Weather has cooled
but rest is still
unattainable
Must I wait for Sunday?

Not the usual angle for my sunrise. I was up before dawn. Off in the car to the lookout over the city. The sun slid over the shoulder of Mount Peter while I waited patiently. Then it was off to look for some breakfast. I've discovered I can drive just about any way I like in the wee hours.....I can make a left turn against the light. I can drive through stoplights......there's nobody around to know the difference!
