Not A Bad Day

We went to the Medina (Souk).
It was fairly early - and a Friday (Holy day so a visit to the Mosques for the men) so it was pretty quiet with a lot of the stalls/'shops'/holes in the wall shut.
But first stop was to arrange a time for the BIL to pick up his paintings.
With it being quiet, it was easy for us to get a look the 'tourist end' which is covered and has fancy wooden doors/covers for the stalls which is normally packed. The cover and fronts were paid for by a renovation project instigated by the King apparently. There were lots of other interesting interesting facts and history from our personal tour guide .... much better than any tour book.

By the time it was coffee time (bought from a hole in the wall) it was beginning to get busier (which resulted in me spilling the remains of my coffee on my t-shirt .... what a slaster).
SWMBO bought herself a kaftan/dress type thing and a couple of scarves - I bought a small box which contains 5 dice.
The 'cheaper' end of the medina is much more of a market geared to locals (no fancy wooden roof and shutters). There are also narrow alleys with houses and the occasional boutique hotel which you would never find without a guide.
One of the more open areas ... I am not sure if we could call it a 'Square' was almost deserted, apart from the hundreds of feral cats - none of the feral dogs though for some reason and for that it deserves a mention.

By the time we had finished having a look around it was time to collect the paintings for the BIL, after which we walked down to the river below the Kasbah where we had a very relaxed lunch.
We sat and watched a couple of rose sellers trying to pass on their wares. They were a bit persistent - the only ones we saw the entire trip  - but would disappear of anyone official appeared (even the waiters at the restaurant). We also watched the ferrymen criss-crossing the river and the school kids being taken on canoeing outings.

After lunch we went and had a look at the Atlantic and its rollers (which were pretty small) - and the strange cloud bank where the top was darker than the underside.
The edge of the continent here is volcanic as is very obvious when you try walking on it to get pictures!
