At home: sleeping field vole!
An unexpected find in my jumper this morning! This little field vole must have been hiding from the cat. Tiger brings in regular live presents to honour his human pride with. I think he sees that we leave him bowls of cat meat and he returns the favour with live animals!
In Britain we have lots of voles, bank voles, water vole and the more common field voles. They seem rather less pest like than the field mouse, although these little characters can breed nearly as fast as mice having as many as seven litters a year. They are food for owls, kestrels, weasels, stoats etc and cats, but its obvious that if they decline too much animals further up the food chain would disappear too.
This little fellow, has a huge climb onto the stool to get inside my jumper. I hope I don't find an offering in my boot, vole running up your leg is not a nice morning jig for anyone! X
