Family Fun

A friend from the office, police officer friend, invited myself and the family to the gun club for their Family Shoot Weekend. I am glad we all went. I haven't shot anything in years, as in not since high school. A compound bow set to have a 10 pound pull doesn't count. We started out shooting .22 bolt action rifles. I want one. That's all I can say about that. This target is from one of the rounds of shooting the .22 at 50 yards.

Chuck, my instructor, was very patient with me. I had a hard time using the scope. My cheek lay too low on the stock of the rifle to see properly using the scope. Since we were sitting, Chuck was kind enough to let me borrow a hand for my cheek to rest on so I could see through the scope. Once we figured that out, I was busy taking care of a zombie infestation. We also took care of a purple dinosaur. ;)

Next up, we tried out the shotguns. I used my friend's 20 gauge. It had a lot less kick than I expected. We were trap shooting. I missed all my pigeons. :( I was told my technique was good. I just need to practice using the sights. I was shooting just a hair over my clay pigeon.

Pistols...forget it. I am horrible with a pistol, even at 10 yards. My stance is good but my wrists are too weak to be anything but all over the target.

Needless to say, I am looking forward to the next family weekend shoot. The boys loved it and my husband had a great time.
