Red Companions

I'm sure this is companion planting, and think that it's a relatively recent development. Last year I noticed different flowers beside the vines and I'll try to find out whether different grape varieties benefit from different companions. It might simply be which ones survive!

This is near Menerbes, first rest stop in a 60 mile day. I was feeding mid morning and afternoon and then doing a bit of mechanical work. 

Tomorrow we move to Sault.
