Day 34 Camino Bideudo to Somos

Contrary to what some may have wrongly picked up, the ‘final accommodation’ which i referred to in yesterdays blip entry was the final one for the ‘day’ and not the entire Camino! We are still on our journey with about 115kms to go! You’ll have to put up with more reflections and blip entries I’m afraid!

Today, we had a shorter walk of about 16kms and are staying in a small town famous for its Benedictine monastery. We arrived at about 2pm and after settling down we went on a tour of the monastery. It dates back to
medieval times and has the largest cloisters in Spain. It would have had a thriving community at one time given its size but sadly only has a community of 7 monks now. Tomorrow we hit the town of Sarria when we expect a significant influx of Spanish pilgrims who start the Camino from the town as it is the minimum distance required from Santiago to qualify for a Compostela or Certificate of Completion. Should be interesting.
