Playa de Poo and Llanes
We woke up to sunshine and I even sat outside before we set out . We headed to Playa de Poo near Llanes where there is a beautiful inlet and beach and we had coffee outside. More English tourists around here walking along the coast path . The flowers were stunning .
We really enjoyed exploring Llanes and important sea faring centre and home to many ‘palaces’ over the last 2 centuries built with fortunes made by Asturians in South America . Hence they are known as homes of the ‘Indians ‘ .
It was relaxing to wander around the little streets - people had been to a church service and were clutching rises and other flowers.
The harbour wall is protected by cubes decorated by the artist Agustin Ibarrola - who was a 20th century architect persecuted by Franco’s regime throughout his life .
We had a delicious patisserie and coffee in one of the many artisan shops .
Later, as the rain had arrived ( torrential downpours ) we went to Playa de Toro where I was thrilled to spot a bee orchid in the grass just by a path to a view point .
Sad to be leaving tomorrow but we’ve had a wonderful holiday and I’m looking forward to home !:)
