Architecture

Another example of southwestern architecture is found in more rural areas of New Mexico. Here, we see flat roofs, generous use of stucco exterior walls, wooden uprights, and relatively small windows. This formula has existed for many generations. More recent construction has energy-efficient large windows with more metal in supporting structures. The whole purpose of this design is to keep the interior cool in hot summers and warm in winter by using materials that were available for construction.
