Make love not war
Botticelli's Venus and Mars on loan from the National Gallery to Fitzwilliam Museum. I've read several interpretations of this painting but I prefer my own reading which sees it as a 15th C version of the slogan "Make love not war". Looking at the state in which Venus has left Mars I think love won out here.
Primary reason for going to Cambridge was to pick up my camera after a lengthy wait for its repair. I had originally taken it because I was having glitches when uploading images to the laptop and presumed it was a faulty usb port. However I was told that the fault was with the motherboard and a new one was required which would cost £350. I reluctantly agreed for the repair to go ahead, having then to wait 6 weeks for the part to be delivered only to get it home today and find the fault is still there. I am going to have to have words with the camera shop tomorrow :-(
