Jester the bear…

This is one of the bears in Kingston town centre…the whole trail is called ‘we’re going on a bear hunt’ with reference to the children’s book. There is lots of info about the artists and what their bear represents on the website. This Jester is supposed to make you think about how bears were used and exploited in the past, sometimes as jesters in circuses, and encourage the viewer to respect them as a wild animal. Very difficult to get good photos without unappealing backgrounds. This one is outside the back of M and S.

I was in Kingston to go to the Rose theatre for the first performance of the Richmond Schools Singing Festival which my grandchildren were in. All the schools have choirs, they are grouped with one or two other schools to sing a couple of songs and then all the schools present sing four songs together. As there are lots of schools in Richmond they need 4 sessions…am and pm over two days. A big logistics exercise for the Richmond Music Service which went well today. The grandchildren were in the front row of their school and sang well…they had to learn all the words off by heart and there were actions for some songs too!

My planned session of  going to the allotment has not happened so I turned out a cupboard instead and have a few things for the charity shop!

Feeling tired as our son arrived last night after 11pm as lots of M4 and other road closures. He is staying a couple of nights, working from here and meeting up with friends who now live in Australia this evening.
