Totnes - River Dart
Back blipping in progress. A late start on Saturday morning with my French guests as a little informal reception last night went on a bit and drink was consumed. A visit to the old market town of Totnes in warm sunshine was followed by a short drive to Buckfast Abbey where we had lunch in the refectory. Arriving home mid afternoon we discovered that the village had been hit by a freak storm which deposited 2.5 inches or 80 mil of rain in just half an hour. Roads were flooded, as unfortunately were a few houses, before the water etc drained into the river which was still low after recent dry weather. Villages just a couple of miles away remained dry.
In the evening a formal reception and meal was held; a thoroughly enjoyable time was had by all.
