Dryad's Saddle
This is the largest capped mushroom in the UK and it can become so heavy that it can no longer support itself and it will fall from its position.
The fungus grows in overlapping clusters and tiers on broad-leaves trees. If the fungus is growing strongly and has a big food source it will grow in huge clusters with some individual fungus reaching 60cm across and up be up to 3 or 4cm thick.
Walking along by the river in Pollok (fields on the left, river on the right) it was impossible to miss the display. Absolutely nothing on the other side of the tree trunk.
