Rocky Mountaineer, day 2
A longer day on the train today, leaving Kamloops at 07:20.
A slightly earlier start as today is Victoria Day in Canada - a national holiday- so we departed early to avoid some planned works on the track.
A change in scenery too; after passing Kamloops Lake, the majority of the journey wasn't as mountainous as yesterday, and saw us following alongside rivers (the Thompson and Fraser Rivers mainly) and crossing bridges and through tunnels. Quite a few delays on the journey as the train had to pause to allow freight trains to be prioritised. Still a fabulous luxury experience, being fed gourmet food and plied with drinks all day!
Such a memorable two days - another holiday highlight.
Arrived in Vancouver at 6.30pm
After checking in to our downtown hotel, where we'll spend the next 2 nights, be wandered down to the waterfront just before the sun set beyond Stanley Park.
