Town square, Pygros

Tinos marble is probably of more economic value than pilgrim tourism. Most of the quarries and the marble workshops are in the north west of the island where we walked today. Following the Marble Villages trail we started high in the hills and walked down to the sea, picnic lunch in Pygros full of artisanal shops and an interesting marble museum, the Giannoulis Halepas Museum a famous Tinian sculptor whose works can be found across the world.

We finished at Panormos, a quiet fishing village with turtles in the lagoon.
