Perfect view
A sunny day.
We drove up to Bowness, parked at Braithwaite Fold and walked towards the marina and back along the waters edge to Cockshott Point and Bowness Bay
Hardly any people around. We took our time , pausing at a seat to drink in the views and the sunshine and the silence. Lovely
We then drove up to the Low Wood Hotel to meet up with my brother and sis in law. Paul & Becky
The hotel has had a make over since I was last there.. years ago. It is modern, bright and airy. The door man was friendly and helpful when we had problems with the key card getting into the area where our room was ( we had to get the card changed 3 times while we were there) in fact all staff were very friendly.
Our room was as I hoped, with spectacular views across the lake towards the Langdales. Fletch loved the fact that the window was floor to ceiling and settled down to watch the world.
We went into the nearby lounge for drinks to await my brother and wife but they texted to say they were about 2 hours away. So, deciding drinking for 2 hours wasnt a good idea we went for a stroll up the hillside behind the hotel.
They've created a lovely grassy terrace up there., with a shed with deck chairs to use to sit and look at the view. So we got 2 and sat
. There was a faint breeze to counter act the heat of the sun and Fletch pottered about amongst the wild flowers quite contentedly.
The Langdales were a bit hazy but never the less the view was wonderful and we had the place to ourselves. Perfect.
I took quite a few photos .
2 hours went by very quickly.
P & B finally arrived and we met up for her birthday meal. The Blue Smoke restaurant was popular and quite noisy but the food was good and our conversation flowed.
It was getting dark by the time I went up to collect Fletch (key card problems again!)
We sat outside as it was still warm then a pre bedtime walk by the marina
A good day
