The view from the balcony

Went off piste this morning. Not wishing to walk a 15 km winding, undulating and steeply climbing trail we took an alternative cycle path alongside the river for about 10km before making the final climb to our destination. The river valley was OK and delightfully quiet until it entered a construction area for the Slovenian and Austrian customs post on the A2 motorway. There was no difficulty getting through and it wasn’t busy, just pretty uninspiring.
The final climb to our destination was mainly on trails through flower filled pastures but it was a relentless climb.
Safely installed at our lodgings now for the next two days and about to go for a pre-dinner drink.
Unfortunately the good weather of the last few days is ending tonight with 3 days rain forecast…..
