The Promised Land

I could not believe this when I was in Tescos today. Is this it? Is this how I'd imagined it would turn out as I left school 35 years ago, full of optimism, full of hope, full of idealism and belief that I lived in an enlightened, forward thinking, first world country? Have we not learned anything? Apparently not. Said with regret as we sink to new lows. Food charity. Donations of basics because people cannot afford food. Where is the Human Rights Act now?
