Virginia Tiger Moth
I was all set to blip something else today but on my last circuit through the garden, I found this beautiful moth. She's at the end of her life, I think. Hopefully not before she deposited some eggs somewhere in the garden. This species spends it larval period as a big fuzzy, charismatic caterpillar; wonderful to photograph. This image is a stack of 4 to get better focus. Also adjusted the brightness a little to compensate for her very light tone. Happily the garden was in shadows.
Had a very nice FT chat with my parents this morning and now officially counting down the days until I see them in person!
We met my husband's cousin and sister at a very nice restaurant for a late lunch today. I had shrimp and grits and even indulged in an apple crisp for dessert. No dinner tonight! Haven't seen this cousin since late last summer so it was good to catch up.
We were successful yesterday in our search for a new sofa. We found one we really liked at the second place we went. It's very comfortable, has two sections that recline and we are able to get it made in leather which we wanted. What was really nice is that one of the choices in leather was a dark pine green which is beautiful - we both took one look and said "that's the color!" Of course, it will take several months to get it since it's being custom made. Our current sofa really didn't hold up very well and it's definitely time for something new.
Jax was crated when we were out today, something he doesn't seem to mind. The downside is that he is very playful when he gets out of the crate. I was trying to do something else so didn't notice that he had one of the cat beds until he had it partially de-stuffed. Oh well. At least he doesn't eat the stuffing. So that's something.
Skipping the dark today.
