Morton Castle
Another beautiful day with very warm sunshine and blue skies. After some pottering in the garden, reading the paper in the sunshine and some brunch, we decided to go for a drive and find a nice place for a gentle walk we ended up at Morton Castle and Loch. We had not been here for some years, as it is a little off the beaten track. Needless to say, apart from a family who was just leaving as we arrived, we were on our own. What a fantastic setting for this castle above the loch, surrounded by some wonderful hills and small woodlands. Morton Castle | Canmore
There is a lovely circular walk that takes you up to a motte, with views across Kettleton Reservoir, but we will leave that to another day, since it was far too warm for that today.
As we were getting ready to head back to the car, thunder started to rumble and the clouds were building rapidly, with a thunderstorm brewing. Though we managed to escape the it!
