Non stop action! Watching it, that is...
What a day of sport! Watching it, that is. Rugby morning, tennis afternoon, and cricket evening. That's a lot of sitting around...
Got the times wrong again this morning, but made sure the table was reserved and wandered over to sit in the sun at a Bruntsfield cafe. What a game. Lions played well, or really, the Aussies didn't play well. A big cheer went up in the pub when a Scotsman (Richie Grey) was seen to go out on at last!
We were sitting beside a lad from Brisbane, actually, Noosa. He was chuffed we knew the place and we were quietly willing the Wallabies to catch up, even though we're Kiwis (I'm a half one!).
Back home to tidying up - windows washed and sparkling (the fandangle came out and I enjoyed myself). Then the tennis. Poor wee Sabine, but she did so well getting that far, AND beating Serena Williams.
We then assembled a picnic (thanks M&S) and went down to the Meadows to try out the new chairs. Little roll up ones with a back on them. They were fab. But did prove a bit difficult to get in and out of. Once you were in, you were like a cast sheep - there was no way you could get up in a hurry. Except by tipping sideways and crawling away.
We watched the cricket. There were three games on, and I think we picked the least competitive one. Though there were several catches and bails knocked off, we missed them - that's the thing about cricket - you inevitably miss the exciting bits as you choose your sandwich filling.
Things hotted up when a wee lad went on and got a couple of runs. Then an even tinier lad went on. He was just about the size of the wickets. He could hardly move in the big pads, but he got several runs. Mind you, it was the end of the game and the men were giving the wee fellas a bit of a go.
What a day. I think I need a wee rest now. And did I see a box of bargain basement Almond Magnums being popped in the freezer? Yes!
PS This photo is a bit of a cheat. I wanted the chairs in. And I wanted the wee lad, so I put them together. We weren't that near the action!
