Tunnel Walk

We decided to do a longer walk today. We drove to the Karangahake Gorge and started with what is called the Windows Walk as it has tracks cut into the tunnels to the edge of the hill. The views are stunning.  After coming back from this Walk we then walked the loop taking us through the old Karangahake train tunnel now used as a walk or biking tunnel.   As a child i remember going on the train through this tunnel to visit my fathers sister who lived in Karangahake.   Karangahake was a thriving gold mining town in its hey day.

Our walk ended up being 9.9 kms
