It rained all afternoon, but not very much (only 5 mm in the rain gauge). That would not be worth mentioning, if we hadn’t had a red weather warning for torrential downpours all day, and a forecast of 50 - 80 mm of rain - which turned out to be wrong by at least 90 percent.
(Some parts of Southwest Germany weren’t so lucky, they are flooded now.)

I worked anyway, and closed my office window when the noisy neighbours made some more noise. They are now converting their terrace into a kind of conservatory, with a glass roof and probably glass walls, too.

They are a perfect example for people who don’t really want a garden. In addition to the house and garage (which is really a workshop), they now have paved spaces for two cars, a swimming pool, a greenhouse, a garden tool shed, a pavilion/tea house (which doesn’t ever get used), and now a conservatory. There’s only a tiny lawn left between the pool and house, and no space whatsoever for wild flowers or animals.

I guess they hate our untidy garden (with wild flowers, overgrown corners and even some deliberately kept weeds, like nettles, which caterpillars need to survive) as much as we do their polished one.
