This morning I walked with the ranger around a small reserve of mixed wood and heath that was new to me. Saw my first lesser butterfly orchid in full flower. I couldn't photograph it because its surrounded by metal mesh to prevent accidental trampling or grazing. Although the site is best known for its butterflies today was a day for damselflies - there were hundreds of common blue and azure blues - and dragonflies (mostly emperors, downy emeralds, southern hawkers).
