Otranto

This morning we did a walking tour of the village of Otranto. A beautiful cathedral has wonderful mosaics created by Panteleon. It spans the whole church and depicts various things from the Old Testament- like heaven and hell, Adam and Eve and the eating of the forbidden fruit which it turns out was a fig not apple. Apparently an mis translation caused the wrong fruit being named? Who knew. This afternoon we went to Lecce a lovely town but it was so hot that Terri and I abandoned the walk half way through and sat in the shade with a beer!
More walking tonight as we head off for a pizza at a local tavern…
