This is Stan the Man, a Cycling Legend.
Stan Brittain is one of the finest racing cyclists that this country has ever produced.
His achievements started during his National Service where he represented the army, after this Stan rode as an amateur.
In 1956 he was a member of the Team Time trial team that won Silver at the Melbourne Olympics.
During his amateur days he took part in many races in the UK and Europe winning a number of important races.
In 1958 Stan turned Pro. and rode and completed the Tour de France, only the third British rider to finish the race up until then.
A career that started in 1954 and ended in 1964 , racing and winning in many European countries and Canada.
When he reached the age of 80 he took part in a GP de Gentlemen, a class act by any standard!
He is also a very nice man with a wicked sense of humour.
