The Land From on High

After attending my Pastel Painting group at the Art Society this morning I, on impulse, drove up the Wairau Valley to the west of Blenheim to an area called The Delta. I drove up into the hills where there are numbers of Life Style blocks and an attractive lake. This view is looking back across the Wairau plain to the Richmond Range. There are vineyards galore on the plain and creeping up the Delta hillsides. I wanted to photograph the last of the golden leaves on the vines. Many have already lost their leaves but the ones I saw today still had some colour. Pruning has already started in vineyards , an enormous task .
