The Green Man.

The original meaning of the Green Man was lost at the end of the Middle Ages. Medieval masons carved many different varieties, but all were basically a face surrounded by leaves. Green Men survive on the walls of old churches. There have been many Green Man revivals since the Middle Ages, eg: carved in wood on massive Jacobean sideboards and the fronts of Victorian banks.

Mine is on my fence, like yesterday's imp. This is a quick blip before I watch the Ladies' final at Wimbledon.
