Over A Barrel For Canine Refreshment

Today we took a quick trip back to West Peckham to try The Swan for a drink. We took our pints and sat outside overlooking the green and it was just as serene and peaceful as on our previous encounter with the added benefit that the sun was shining on this occasion.
Today's image is of an old beer barrel, that sits under a gloriously characterful tree at the green's edge, which has been repurposed to provide refreshment for any passing canines. I just liked the combination of the barrel, the little sign, the dog bowls and the cowls of the oast houses in the background.
After downing our pints we were starting to feel peckish so we returned to The Moody Mare to try their food. Our test of a pub's food is if the burger and the pizza are good we are on to winner. So we ordered a pepperoni pizza and skin on fries and took a seat in the function room which had been opened up to serve diners for the day. It's an unexpectedly expansive space with stripped floorboards, old signs, photographs and motoring memorabilia and a lovely spot to have our lunch.
Happy to report that the service was just as friendly and warm as on our last visit and that both the pizza and the fries were great! :-)
