Bumblesnaps

Stop thief

This little bumblebee is a robber, as it’s using a behaviour called nectar robbing.
Bumblebees have long-tongued and short-tongued varieties, and if a bee’s tongue is too short to reach the nectar deep inside a flower, it will bite a hole in the neck of the flower, and suck the nectar through it. Good for the bumblebee, but not good for pollination, because it won’t have gathered any pollen on its furry little body to transfer to another flower.
Nature is so clever.
