Too many clocks
It is has been another beautiful day for dog walking and gardening, amongst other things. In particular, I have been forced into tackling our dandelion “harvest”.
For the past few weeks, the peacock butterflies and the bees have been enjoying the dandelion flowers which we allow to grow every year around the edges of our garden. Now, nearly all the flowers have faded and been replaced by dandelion clocks, the seed heads of the plant, which we leave for birds, particularly goldfinches, to feast on. However, there don’t seem to have been so many goldfinches this year and not enough seeds are being eaten so I think the garden might be in danger of being overcome by dandelions next year! Meanwhile, I can enjoy the ethereal nature of the dandelion clocks which have inspired fountain designers all over the world. If you search online for dandelion fountains, a multitude of beautiful fountains will pop up.
