This day was not new
Don called it a day from hell.
It started well, we left for Eugene for his dermatologist visit and a little shopping at Trader Joe’s. Maggie was well taken care of with our kind Dogsitter friend.
While at Trader Joe’s someone stole my wallet and while I was still searching the car for it, messages came in from banks as someone was luxuriously shopping with my credit cards. Darn it, all my cards had been in that wallet, as well as my drivers license , social security number, as I can never remember, 150 in cash and insurance cards.
All this put me in shock so I nearly caused an accident as I choose a wrong lane on the way to Dons drs appointment. Only by half an inch I avoided a collision.
After that appointment we frantically searched for those banks who had given me my credit cards, as no person answered the phone for me besides automatic answering machines asking for my social security number which i couldn’t give them as it had been in the wallet but not in my head….
By three pm we were at the police station to report the theft, but there was nobody available to take the report.
So we started the trip home hoping to release our Maggie- who had been alone since three pm . Normally we should have been there at 4.30, but 10 miles before arriving in Florence the traffic stopped on a narrow 2 lane road.
There had been two accidents with a fatality. As we learned from the co sufferers who had been standing at that spot already since two hours . No other way to get home…., so we had to stand there and wait and see a day go by which could have been beautiful. Only by 6.30 the traffic started moving again. Home by 7.30
Very grateful for a neighbor whom I was able to reach and who took Maggie to her house.
Also grateful that my phone was NOT stolen!!!
