Riding through the local village and Paddy Fields
We were up nice an early again. 5am to go horse riding through a local village and paddy fields. The tuktuk man picked us up at 5.30 and took us to happy ranch! They were saddled up when we arrived. They were quite small cambodian (the breed is apparently just Cambodian) horses. Annie was going to do 2 hours and Katie and I just 1 hour but we all went together in the end as it didn't look as if they were going to let us! Annie was definitely the most confident as she used to do pony club and have horses at home. So the man told her at several points to wait behind so she could have a fast canter. When I went past a tree at the start there was a huge lizard above me. It was nice being able to see all the locals do their morning routines. Some children from the tiny village cycling to school, a man moving his cattle, ladies cleaning clothes..etc! I didn't get a picture but there was a huge long dusty track that we passed that went on for miles. We weren't aloud to canter at one point as it was the 'main road' which was extremely narrow and very bumpy! After our hour we headed back to our hostel and had our breakfast at the hostel. We were all about to have little nap and there was a knock at the door, it was the same man asking what we were doing. They always want to know our plans! I took Annie to the book shop as I had already been but they charged a fortune for exchanging her huge book for a different one. When we were having our lunch a family walked in and they had two extremely skinny children and the the other two were gigantic! We didn't see the father but the Mother was very slim so the Father must be rather large. On the way back I bought 5 postcards which I made myself do before the end of the day.
We went back and the other two went to check in for the flights tomorrow. I skyped Mother for a while which was nice. When Katie got back we went to Blue Pumpkin for the last time. Had our HUGE shakes and I wrote all my postcards. Katie had to help me choose which ones to send too how. I'm hopeless!
When we got back from blue pumpkin, we went to Max and Ed's room as they had arrived earlier that morning. John and James were also there. We had our last cambodian supper in a local restaurant. They brought out a bug round BBQ for the middle of the table. It had water at the side so you could cook your vegetables in and at the top you cooked your meat. It was good fun. We had noodles, local beef, onions, peppers, rice, salad and cucumber with it.
Katie went back to the hostel as she has a swollen leg from being bitten by a horse fly. Annie and I went to the night market and found the four boys so walked around with them. Annie gave in and bought some beats. She managed to get them for $9 instead of $10 which I paid. I met Rosie Trower in the market which was so bizarre.
