Early cutting
Instead of my 5k walk I cut the hill in the field - a ridiculously steep slope not improved by the wild boar riffling up the surface. Even at 8:00 it was hot work and the sweat was dripping off the peak of my cap - picked up in TKMaxx you’ll be pleased to hear.
I’ve been listening to the great Timothy West reading the Anthony Trollope Palliser and Barset novels. The Palliser novels are brilliant and West’s ability to create a wide variety of voices with the gentle sardonic irony that inhabits Trollope’s observations of Victorian society can be hilarious and at times embarrassingly touching. Hours and hours of drollery if you’ve got a long journey, a lot of grass to cut or ground to hoe or tinnitus. Inevitably there are some duds - Framley Parsonage being one (at least so far). But all free to listen on my version of Audible.
A mixed day - got warm and humid, then rained. I watched a mountain stage of the Giro and went out early evening to plant tomato and squash plants. Had a second meal of new potatoes from some self-seeded plants. Absolutely delicious.
