TINY NEST BUILDER

This ceramic bird house has been in the same shady spot on my outdoor fireplace mantle, for about 5 years. It looks like
this pair of tiny BEWICK’S WRENS have
finally discovered it.

This morning I watched as they went back
& forth putting twigs inside. How
industrious they were! Soon, there will
be a young family living inside.

And, much to my surprise,
2 MOURNING DOVE chicks were peeking
out of the nest just above my back door.
The female watches us come & go,
not afraid, at all.

My patio has turned into an avian
maternity ward again this year.
