Over the water
Today was amazingly dreich. Not cold - not even spectacularly wet; just grey. Happily we didn't spend it here. Instead Himself joined me for my six-weekly jaunt to my hairdressers in Greenock, where he went off to find useful things in Tesco and I poured out my deepest thoughts to Michael, in the traditional way. The great joy lies in the fact that my wonderful Michael had someone in the salon phone me to give me the appointment time of my choice when he had a cancellation, so that I emerged just after 1pm and met Himself in one of my favourite Italian cafés, Tonino's, which is just next door. Freshly-made warm focaccia, two kinds of olive oil, flame-roasted vegetables to share, followed by cannoli and espresso, Italian radio burbling gently in the background ... and the above collage, photographed as surreptitiously as possible lest they think me mad.
Then along to the small but useful shopping precinct in Port Glasgow, where I bought an oversized cotton shirt in M&S and some bits and pieces in Boots before we came home. By then there was just time for the customary post-haircut shower followed by dinner.
Good day - and it's not yet midnight.
