Machine
Aside from the daily stand-up, there were only three other meetings on my calendar today. This allowed me to do a little bit of planning work in the gaps.
The lack of back-to-back meetings was also helpful when the washing machine engineer arrived. Remarkably, he managed to get the machine from under the kitchen units relatively quickly. After that, the good news was that he proved that the blockage - which causes the machine not to drain - was not in the pipe connected to the washing machine as it was all working well. Unfortunately, it's likely in a bit of connecting pipe, less than a metre long, which he felt was not covered by the insurance visit. Only after he had left did I recall that service engineers from the insurance company connected the whole thing up in the first place. I should have argued my case. Knowing the machine itself was OK, it appeared that he wanted to get on to his next job.
I asked him to leave the machine detached from the units as I will have to get somebody else to look at the tiny bit of connecting pipe. I booked a call out with the home insurance to come and unblock us. I called the helpline to ensure they knew that, when I selected the booking form's 'blockage' option, it's not a main drain issue - more a tiny short flexi-pipe. The lady I spoke to said it was all OK and adequately explained on the request. I can't help thinking that allocating it to a Dynorod franchise is the wrong type of blockage specialist. They're booked for Monday.
