Back to Oamaru
It was cold in Christchurch this morning - minus 1.9deg feels like -4deg - so we wrapped up warm when we went out to get breakfast. We went to The Foundation Café, which is located in the library building. It’s an interesting building on the outside and the glimpses I had of the inside were wonderful - light, spacious and with some interesting sculptures. We walked back to the motel, picked up our bags and set off on the journey home. I wanted to stop at The Urban Cheese shop to collect some yoghurt culture, as it was on our way to the Inland Scenic Route. It was a beautiful day with blue sky and barely a cloud. The mountains are starting to get their winter coat of snow, so it was a lovely scenic drive.
We stopped in Geraldine for coffee and a very light nibble, then wandered along the Main Street. We popped into two galleries to look at the art on display, then saw a hat stand with some interesting hats and after trying on a couple I bought one to wear in the summer for sun protection, much to MrM’s delight. After that it was a quick journey through to Timaru, where we stopped for petrol, then an hour to Oamaru. We had a lovely time in Christchurch, but it was good to be home.
The trees with the beautiful red leaves were in front of the Salvation Army building next door to our motel, and the other two photos were taken on the journey.
I haven’t been on blip so am way behind with comments.
