Farewell Birmingham Central Library

(I'm writing this a whole 6 days late, on Friday 5th July).

I was going out for a friend's birthday last Saturday, but went out of my way to get this picture to mark the closure of Birmingham Central Library. The Library of Birmingham opens in September, and so the old library has shut. It's a shame - I liked the place (though a lot of people hate it, which I think I think is mainly due to the architecture and external look) and thought it was idiosyncratic. The majority of the building is an upside-down ziggurat (stepped pyramids, common in ancient Mesopotamia) which I think is a really interesting design.
