Eighty not out

As a child I remember being fascinated to hear that the Queen would send you a birthday card if you reached 100. It sounded so old, like the end of life itself.
 
This big shiny birthday card from our local MP has something of that same feeling, now brought forward to 80. I would rather think of this one as just another birthday along the road.
