Butterfly (and moth) day
4th day of holiday
Today we went into the deep, dark forest where bears and other creatures live - but saw nothing more scary than a non-poisonous snake.
It was a walk through one of the last 2 primeval forests in Europe going down into a damp valley (which led to a 75m waterfall) then over the ridge into a drier one with different trees and undergrowth.
Finally we came out onto a track where there were loads of butterflies and moths on the flowers at the edges. These are a few of the different varieties, others wouldn't stay still long enough and I didn't want to get left too far behind.
I haven't identified them all, may be someone can help, but these are my thoughts, starting top left.
1. Possibly 2 sorts of skipper 2. ?small skipper 3. ?Duke of Burgundy 4 (centre). White Admiral 5. ?Black-veined white 6. Speckled Wood 7. Orange Moth
