Back to the 70s at Palazzo Pitti today
What a day! Hot and bright ...
What a mixture! Starting at the top of the stairs was a fabulous mixture of design styles from 20th C fashions. Loved it. Only spooky things were the 2 galleries showing the conserved garments of 3 members of the Medici family from the 16th C. The spookiness came from them disenterring (is that a word?) these people from their tombs! Well ... there's no denying what they wore. Felt a bit odd to us ....
We moved on to The Modern Art Museum part of the Palazzo. This was a bit puzzling as I don't know that we got much passed the 1930s ... although really good to see lots of artists I was not familiar with.
After lunch we pottered vertically (it seemed) through the Bobboli Gardens before headinv through the palace galleries. What a wealth of gilded frames and Napoleonic symbolism... enjoyed the visit no end but needed tge Aperol Spritz and sit down before teetering back to the apartment.
Off to Arezzo tomorrow ...
