Continuing support for Palestinians
I was going for lunch with my friend G at the top of Park Street. I discovered the bus I was on would be diverting and not going up Park Street, so I hopped off in order to walk. As I turned the corner I saw the reason, a huge march with hundreds of flags and other banners and placards. There were two main themes on these - firstly ‘don’t attack Rafah’, where 1.5 million Palestinians have already fled, having nowhere else left to go. And secondly commemorating the Nakba on May 15th 1948 when 750,000 Palestinians were driven off their land to make space to create Israel, as a safe homeland for Jewish people, very much needed after the holocaust. Which, it is argued, where the current tragedy began. I really wanted to join the march, but instead took some photos. I need to up my game and be sure to be on the next one.
Lunch was lovely. G and I spent some time planning an upcoming trip. And I spent most of the day gardening. I noticed on blip how the Aurora borealis had been visible all over the U.K. on Friday night. Even Bristol! Though sadly I had been asleep. In my extra is a pic my neighbour took on the downs at midnight. As a record of something special happening.
