Just an update.

      As good as it gets?  Phase one - got it unscrambled.  I can't see where the bit I thought was snapped is/went; BUT I can now see its track.      
     It rises bottom centre and curls up and across to left and down, almost as a heart, to the point which I released it from back then.
     After which nit rises to the centre of the heart then breaks free across to the right.  With any kind of luck there'll be room for the flowers; looks like four remaining?
