The old well

This is the well and hand pump that provided the only source of water to our house until its connection to the mains in the 1970s. For the next fifty years the water company forgot to bill the owners for water, a situation that they rectified when we took over the property. A fence has been erected around the well to stop the sheep and lambs from falling in.
