Competition on a lily pad

Yesterday and today I have been trying to take photos of pond skaters on our pond. It is fascinating to watch their courtship methods which involves a millisecond of sparring and then acceptance or rejection. I have been trying to photograph the sparring but so far have not been too successful as there are a lot of legs!! Also it seems quite difficult to get a fast enough shutter speed but I am working on it :-)
