3418. Kimono!

We went through to Dundee this morning to see the Kimono Exhibition at the V&A.  It was an amazing exhibition and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  I stopped to talk the the curator of the exhibition and mentioned that I’d love to try making a kimono and she mentioned that they had acquired a few vintage kimonos to sell in the gift shop at the museum, so we headed down there to take a look, expecting them to very expensive.  What a surprise I got when they said that the full length kimonos were all £35!  I even cheekily asked if my membership discount in the shop included the kimonos and was told that it did! So, I got this beautiful vintage kimono for just over £31!  I am so pleased with it as it’s so bright and colourful..

I was in awe of the beautiful kimonos on display in the exhibition, some from the 1700’s, right up to the 2000’s.
