Hestercombe
F and I had an outing to Hestcombe, the other side of Taunton. The weather was warm and sunny and the gardens were heavenly after the unsettled and cold weather we had been having. The gardens are mostly woodland but they do have a formal garden in front of the house. We walked up the hill under the trees and along the ponds which flow down the hill to the bottom and the house. We then had lunch in their cafe, looked at the art exhibited in the house and visited the second-hand book shop. Driving home we got very held up at one point and had to divert down these very narrow country lanes with no passing places hoping we would not meet any oncoming vehicles. We were fairly fortunate in just meeting an old man in a wheel chair and further on a van which we managed to scrape past into a corner. We had no idea where we were going but we got home safely!
